With strong programming and its own character, Poppodium Patronaat has been one of the top ten core stages in the Netherlands for years. Qualitative pop music in all its forms and relatives has always been at the core of what Patronaat is all about. When composing the program, a healthy mix of public-friendly on the one hand and progressive and progressive pop music on the other is always sought.

From the very beginning, from 1984 to the present day, Patronaat has experienced growth on all fronts. At that time, the Pop Music South Kennemerland Foundation moved into the gymnasium of the old Catholic boys' school at Zijlsingel 2. This turned out to be ideal for use as a concert hall. In the first year, approximately 60 concerts were organized, which attracted a total of 10,000 visitors. The organization started with about 20 volunteers, but now the staff has grown to almost 200 people, 90 of which are voluntary employees and 110 professionals. The Patronaat has grown from a small volunteer organization into a professional music venue.

Currently, about 500 activities are organized in the beautiful new building that annually attract an average of 130,000 visitors and Patronaat enjoys national allure with a strong and versatile programming that touches almost all facets of pop music. A glimpse into the past shows world-class stars like Art Garfunkel, Patti Smith, Steve Aoki, Solomon Burke, Herman Brood, Living Color, Bo Diddley, Doe Maar, Within Temptation, dEUS, Jeff Mills, Snoop Dogg, UB40, Jonathan Jeremiah , Einsturende Neubauten, Dave Clarke, Kane, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Chef'Special, and much more!
